Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame BanquetEach year, in the middle of May, the Old Timers Soccer Association of Maryland hosts the Annual Hall of Fame Banquet. This affair is a wonderful evening where former teammates and opponents meet in good fellowship to honor those of the past and the present. The main purpose of the evening is the induction of the newest members to Maryland's Soccer Hall of Fame. Several other awards presentations also occur during that evening. They are: The John Schmid Award for Service to Soccer, The Ray "Granny" Kraft Referee Award [presented by the State Referee Association], The MSYSA Youth coach-of-the-year Awards and the Male and Female High School Athlete of the Year Awards. Quite often, teams, individuals and/or clubs who have had major accomplishments during the year are honored at this time also. As a part of this affair the Association publishes a Program that lists the background information for all of the current award recipients and the names of all of the past winners. Individuals, organizations and businesses are encouraged to show their support for the recipients and OTSAM by taking ads in the program.
