Premier League Matchday Nine sees Manchester City Open a Lead

Manchester City were able to establish a five point advantage in the Premier League after coming in with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Burnley during the weekend. City were able to take full advantage of rivals Manchester United suffering a shock 2-1 loss against Huddersfield Town. Pep Guardiola’s team cemented their position as the best attacking team in the division with another comprehensive victory, which also saw Sergio Aguero go level with City’s all-time scoring record. Leroy Sani and Nicolas Otamendi were the other scorers for City.

Manchester United had only let in two goals so far this season, but there was a major shock for Jose Mourinho with the team conceding twice in the first half against Huddersfield. Even though Marcus Rashford scored late in the game, it was not enough for United to get anything out of the game.
Meanwhile, Chelsea were able to move into the top four after securing a 4-2 comeback victory over Watford. Michy Batshuayi came up with a brace to help Chelsea ended a run of back-to-back losses in the league. Tottenham were able to stay in touch with the title chasing teams after a comprehensive 4-1 win over Liverpool. This result further pushed the Merseyside outfit down the table. Arsenal picked up a 5-2 win over Everton to improve mood at the Emirates stadium, but it is certainly another disappointing result for Ronald Koeman and his team. Everton have fallen into the drop zone as a result of this loss.

Bournemouth remain in the relegation zone, but they were able to put themselves closer to safety after a 2-1 away victory over Stoke City. It was an impressive result at the Bet365 stadium, where Stoke City are usually strong. Brighton inflicted further misery on West Ham, who are outside the drop zone on goal difference, by getting a 3-0 win in the first kick-off of the weekend.
