PSG striker Edinson Cavani has finally spoken about the penalty incident with Neymar and he claims that the situation with the Brazilian is ‘relaxed’. Cavani and Neymar were involved in a confrontation on the pitch and there was also an involvement from Dani Alves. The two strikers argued about free kick and penalty responsibilities in the 2-0 win over Lyon. Neymar has been getting a huge amount of attention since making the £200 million switch to Parc des Princes, but Cavani appeared to show the Brazilian that he still retains the number one spot at the club.
After a public spat, Cavani took the penalty and went on to miss it. It was later rumoured that the pair clashed in the dressing room and had not been seeing eye-to-eye over the last few weeks. Yet, Cavani has come out with his first major statement regarding the incident, and he claims that the media have turned the situation into a full-blown fight. He insisted that it was not the case and that things were relaxed between him and Neymar.
PSG have made a stunning start to the competition and have been able to establish a three-point lead over Monaco after eight matches. PSG have been the top scorers (27) in the division by a considerable margin. Cavani is not the leading scorer in the French Ligue 1 table this season, as Monaco forward Radamel Falcao has been able to steam that limelight. Yet, Cavani has scored two more goals than Neymar (6) after the first eight games.
